Immunet Beta 1.0.20 is now available for download!

Our last release, 1.0.18, has been in deployment now for over a month. That's quite a while for a beta drop to be in play and I would like to thank all of you who provided us with valuable feedback on it. Based off that feedback and our internal roadmap we are pleased to be offer up version 1.0.20. This release has some great new features and whole series of 'plumbing' additions which make us more effective at finding and removing malware.

It’s now been well over a month since I wrote my first entry on what the Immunet Community is seeing. I know that some of you have told me you would like to see this blog more frequently and I am going to make it more frequent in the near future. Schneier on Anti-Virus, and why I joined Immunet

Bruce Schneier, one of the leading voices of our community, took a stand on the controversial position held by many security researchers that anti-virus is dead. Bruce disagrees with this position and reaffirmed the necessity of anti-virus this week. He makes the sound argument that the reduction in efficacy of traditional anti-virus technologies is not a reason to eliminate them from your desktop. Saying otherwise would be akin to throwing out all antibiotics because a certain class of them became less effective. Even if old-school anti-virus products become less effective, they are better than nothing.

Robert Vamosi at PC World just released a short online video on Cloud Anti-Virus. Robert succinctly speaks to the  advantages of Cloud based Anti-Virus and covers the leading players in this space. Definitely worth watching.

Welcome Aboard Dr. O'Donnell !

The last several weeks have been extremely busy at Immunet. While it must seem like radio silence to the community we are actually working feverishly on our release scheduled for the first calendar quarter of the new year. We've been fixing bugs in the current version, hiring new staff and designing new detection technologies. In the midst of this flurry (of busy but silent) activity it's my pleasure to announce that Dr. Adam O'Donnell is joining us here. Adam is a well known figure in the cloud security space, most notably on the spam side of the house.
