Hello everyone. It’s now been well over a month since I wrote my first entry on what the Immunet Community is seeing. I know that some of you have told me you would like to see this blog more frequently and I am going to make it more frequent in the near future. I am hoping to post at least once every two weeks and I am going to try for once a week.

So, what’s new since I last wrote this blog? Well, since my last blog the community has grown to over 20,000 users and we have been extremely busy improving our product.  We have some very exciting things planned for the next six months, so stay tuned for many more improvements to come.  For now, I’d like to give everyone a brief update on what the Immunet Community has seen over the past month.

Location  - where are we all from?

You might wonder where our community is situated. We were astonished to find out that Immunet Protect is being used in over 133 different countries worldwide!  This is a little bit humbling for us, and another prime example of the how broad the Internet’s reach really is.  Hereis a breakdown of some of the top countries:

These numbers are not too far off from those that we reported on last time.  We continue to see a large Community in the US and Brazil.  What is surprising to us is that an even larger portion of our user base falls outside of the US and is spread across the remaining 125 countries.  We don’t have space to list all of the countries, but we want to list just a few notables – Immunet Protect is being used in, believe it or not, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Cuba and even Iraq! For us this really speaks to people finding our Collective Immunity approach intriguing globally rather than being a North American centric solution.

What the Immunet Community is seeing?

Immunet users continue to use the Immunet Protect beta as their first and only line of defense. To be precise 76% of Immunet Protect users rely on Immunet Protect as their sole defense against malware. Immunet Protect is a new product, and our recommendation has been to run us alongside another traditional AntiVirus product.  When talking to the Immunet Community however, many of you are fed up with the performance hit, memory usage, and sheer size of the traditional AntiVirus products.  So much so that you’ve chosen to go with Immunet alone.  We would still recommend using a second product alongside Immunet, but rest assured we are working extremely hard to make Immunet Protect the most effective product when it comes to catching today’s viruses. We will get there and hopefully we will get there with you!

We are always excited to see our product working.  It gives us a good feeling every time we protect you from a threat that might otherwise have stolen your identity, damaged your reputation or harmed your computer.  Here is a breakdown of exactly what we have seen since October 6^th of this year (that’s only about 6 weeks ago now):

• The Immunet Community has grown to 20,000 members!

• Immunet Protect has blocked 64,527 viruses from infecting its members!

• 10,442 of those viruses were blocked on computers that already had traditional AntiVirus software!

Now, it’s always interesting to see what kind of incremental benefit Immunet Protect can provide to users who already have traditional AntiVirus products.  Here is just an example of additional viruses that Immunet Protect has blocked across our community broken down by the products that you were already running:

Kaspersky Internet Security                422 viruses

McAfee Internet Security                     1192 viruses

Microsoft Security Essentials               1536 viruses

Norton AntiVirus                                  377 viruses

Now, these are all good products, but these numbers demonstrate that a single product, in today’s world, can no longer provide the level of protection that we’ve all come to expect.
