Immunet Protect 1.0.17 Released

On Tuesday we released Immunet Protect 1.0.17 which is our fifth minor product update since the Immunet Protect beta began on August 19th. This morning we kicked off an automated update to update all prior versions of Immunet Protect to this build. Most people were running either 1.0.10, 1.0.12, 1.0.14 or 1.0.16 (you can tell by hovering over the ‘About’ link in the user interface).

Here is what’s new with this release:

We’ve added support for Windows 7; and now support XP, Vista and Windows 7. 64-bit for Vista and Windows 7 is in testing as we speak, and will be available in just a few days.

We’ve made cosmetic changes to the user interface; the top level buttons are bigger and less cluttered and we’ve now added a graphic to represent cloud connectivity. The “Invite | Register | About” links have been moved to the sub-box on the bottom left in the Summary panel. Let us know what you think..

We’ve fixed some issues with the core cloud protocol; some users were just not able to connect to the cloud no matter how hard they tried. We now support several different methods to connect to the cloud and Immunet Protect will pick the best method behind the scenes; no configuration required.

We’ve changed the updater which updates the product. In the past we would un-install the current product and then re-install a new version of the product. This was error prone and could leave some users without a product altogether! This is by no means desirable and had to get fixed. The new version will install updates on top of your existing product from now on.

We’ve fixed numerous crashes in the product and also added auto crash-reporting to notify Immunet when you see a crash. This has resulted in an extremely stable 1.0.17 build.

We now detect the EICAR test file; an important consideration for those who want to confirm that the product is working without using a live virus!

Immunet Protect will now detect any of the following products if they are already installed on your computer:

I am really into the security of our nation. Both bioligical, as in the H1N1 virus vaccine, to Internet Security, to Homeland Security. How can I do more? We need to strengthen our immune systems to help fight off flus etc....I take B vitamin Complex and other vitamins. I never get the flu. Washing hands is important but my sister is a nurse and she says that some bacteria is good so too much antibacterial rinses are not good!? But important.

The Internet is a place where we need to really strenthen the "immune systems" of our computers by having secure anti-virus products and not bank on the Internet and spamming or forwarding what look like suspicious activity or emails. I personally don't shop on the Internet as I lost my checking account once doing just that. We can't see who is behind the lines of the Internet if they dont have a webcam. I don't have one as I don't want the world to see me except perhaps in a photo of my choice.

Our country needs more security against potential I hate to say this word, terrorist , activity. I believe it can be put in our food. I have been a dietary aide and know that leaving meat out in the hot sun can be dangerous. And finally, the war on terror, literally can never be easy. And Bin Laden was who we were looking for after 9/11 we need to find the sneaky rat. And give soldiers permission to take him out, if you will, if they see him.

The outbreak of the black or bubonic plague in China recently is much more scary to me than H1Na. And is the Ebola ever gets loose it is airborne and we are all in trouble. There are many ways our security can possibly be compromised, from disease to food to Nuclear War. The Predident can't do everything so we all need to introduce our central intelligence and look out for breaches in security. Internet, Biological, or possible Terrorist activity. They are hiding.
